Bountiful’s biggest summer tradition returns this weekend! The 76th annual Handcart Days kicks off on Friday, July 24, and runs through Saturday, July 25, bringing the community together for a weekend of celebration.
With the 2026 theme of "Faith and Freedom," this year's festivities honor both the pioneers who entered the Salt Lake Valley in 1847 and the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Whether you're coming for the traditional pulled pork and scones, the massive parade, or the fireworks, there is something for everyone.
Here is the rundown of events to help you plan your weekend:
Friday, July 24: Park Activities and Concert
The fun begins at Bountiful City Park (400 N. 200 West).
Food and Games (5:00 PM – 9:00 PM): Enjoy concessions (which stay open until 9:30 PM), face painting, inflatables, and a free game area featuring gunny sack races and 9-Square. You can also explore the Mountain Men and Native American displays.
Free Concert (8:00 PM – 9:30 PM): Grab a blanket or camp chair and head to the Park Pavilion for a free performance by Jenny Oaks Baker & Family Four.
Saturday, July 25: Races, Parade, and Fireworks
Handcart Days Races (Early Morning): Organized by the South Davis Recreation Center, the races kick off with the half marathon's early start at 5:00 AM, getting runners across the finish line before the summer heat sets in.
The Grand Parade (9:00 AM): As the second-largest parade in Utah, expect around 100 entrants including professional floats, marching bands, classic cars, and horses. The 1.8-mile route runs north along Main Street (starting at 1500 South) to 400 North, then turns west to end near the park. Note: You can claim your parade spot with chairs starting at 9:00 PM on Friday night, provided they are occupied.
More Park Activities (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM): The food booths and games reopen at Bountiful City Park immediately following the parade.
Fireworks (10:00 PM): The city will close out the celebration with an incredible fireworks show at Mueller Park Junior High.
