Report: NYC paid out more than $2.6B in welfare cash payments last year, city data shows

New York City has provided nearly 865,000 people welfare checks over the past year–a record-breaking supply that has prompted public assistance spending to soar to more than $2.6 billion, according to a New York Post report.
