Lamine Yamal's grandmother changed her family's future with one brave journey

Lamine Yamal's rise is rooted in a multigenerational immigrant story that began decades before his birth. His paternal grandmother Fátima sneaked onto a bus from Morocco alone, worked three shifts a day, and slowly reunited her family in Mataró. His mother gave birth at 16 and worked fast food to fund his La Masia commute. His father survived a near-fatal stabbing in 2024.
