Firefighters made significant progress Tuesday on the Kinky Creek Fire near Jackson as cooler temperatures and recent precipitation allowed crews to resume suppression efforts after several days of weather-related challenges.
Fire managers say firefighters were able to re-engage operations across multiple areas of the fire, with aviation resources playing a key role in supporting crews on the ground. Two water-scooping aircraft and helicopters conducted water drops throughout the day to help cool active areas and strengthen containment lines.
