Supermarket sold expired Chocos; consumer court orders Rs 10,182 payout to customer

A consumer commission ordered Vishal Mega Mart to refund a customer Rs 182 for an expired food product. The retailer also must pay Rs 10,000 for compensation and litigation costs. The customer had purchased the expired item on December 1, 2025, and received no response. Vishal Mega Mart denied deficiency in service and unfair trade practices. The commission found the retailer guilty of selling an expired product to the complainant.
