Lokayukta police trap GST official with Rs 8 lakh bribe

A Central GST official was apprehended by Lokayukta police for accepting a bribe. The superintendent demanded twenty lakh rupees from a businessman to close a tax evasion case. He agreed to accept eight lakh rupees and used an agent for the transaction. The businessman reported the demand, leading to the trap and arrests of both men. Both the official and his agent were sent to judicial custody following the operation.
