Mitali Mukerji was criticised for testing Ayurveda with genomics; now she uses AI

Molecular geneticist Mitali Mukerji has spent her career exploring the intersection of genomics, traditional knowledge and personalised health. After earning her PhD from IISc and leading research at CSIR-IGIB, she became associated with Ayurgenomics, investigating whether Ayurvedic Prakriti types have measurable biological correlates. Despite criticism surrounding the field, her work has evolved towards AI-enabled integrative precision health at IIT Jodhpur, highlighting the challenges and possibilities of testing unconventional scientific questions through modern biology.
