Historic Newhall survived so much calamity. Then a fire ripped out its heart

Downtown Newhall dates back more than 100 years and the business district is considered the cultural and historic heart of the Santa Clarita Valley. On Monday, a fire ripped through the district, destroying some of its most cherished landmarks.
