'Big Tobacco' moment?: Meta faces $1.4 trillion lawsuit over harm to children

Jury selection begins Wednesday in a lawsuit filed by the US states of California, Colorado, Kentucky and New Jersey alleging that Meta uses technology to make Facebook and Instagram addictive for children. The states are demanding changes to Meta's apps in addition to financial penalties as high as $1.4 trillion in what some experts are calling social media's "big tobacco moment". Meta denies the allegations.
