Meta fined in child safety case

A US state court has ordered Meta to pay $567 million and restrict some Facebook and Instagram features for children, in what is being described as the largest child-safety ruling against the company. The court found that Meta had created a “public nuisance” that endangered young users. The ruling comes as dozens of other US states pursue lawsuits accusing the company of harming children and their mental health.
