Man arrested in Gann fire says he was trying to make money for a birthday dinner

Cal Fire officers took 65-year-old Herbert Wayne Smith into custody on Monday around 7:45 p.m. Detectives believe the Valley Springs, Calif., man caused the Gann fire that started earlier that day.
