San Francisco woman heard wall noises, then raccoon broke into bedroom

Two San Francisco roommates spent nearly two months trying to identify strange scratching noises coming from inside their apartment walls. The mystery ended when a mother raccoon that had built a nest inside the wall gave birth to babies and later broke through into one tenant's bedroom. The roommates eventually moved out after the animals were removed and received about $4,600 in reduced rent and expenses. The incident highlights how wild animals can sometimes find shelter inside buildings without residents realising it until the problem becomes impossible to ignore.
