US President Donald Trump reportedly supports FIFA president Gianni Infantino for the UN secretary-general position. Trump believes Infantino possesses the ability to unite people globally and is a strong candidate. The two developed a closer relationship during the recent FIFA World Cup tournament. Infantino had previously presented Trump with FIFA's inaugural Peace Prize award. A candidate needs UN Security Council backing and General Assembly approval for the role.
