50 years after making history, Pocatello's first Black mayor remains a force in public service

POCATELLO — Before Dr. Thomas L. Purce became Pocatello's mayor 50 years ago in 1976, a cabinet director or a university president, he was just a kid from the Gate City's historic Triangle District.
